THE MESSY BUN CHIGNON

A chignon gives a structured and worked look and yet they are so simple to achieve. It requires no tools and no heat treatment.

A naturally elegant and carefree hairstyle for everyday life. We'll show you how it's done.

  1. After getting out of the shower, apply a curl-defining cream to the ends of your hair. Of these creams, choose one that suits your hair type.
  2. Next, gather your hair into a simple ponytail. You can make it low or high depending on the effect you want to give to your bun.
  3. Twist the ponytail around the base of the ponytail and wrap it around itself to create the bun.
  4. For a better hold, fix the bun with hairspray or some pins.
  5. For a more casual and unkempt look, leave a few loose strands around your head.

The high ponytail

High hairstyles are very trendy. This is another very easy and quick hairstyle to achieve and will enhance your pretty curls.

High Ponytail Curly Hair

We appreciate the versatility of this hairstyle depending on the situation. If you combine it with evening dresses and a glamorous makeup, the cut is classy. Worn with a loose sweater and comfortable pants and natural makeup, this hairstyle then takes on a cool look.
Either way, it will take you five minutes maximum to create a ponytail on your curly mane.

  1. Choose an elastic band or, to keep up with current trends, choose a scarf scrunchie.
  2. A little volume tip is to crimp your hair or massage it from the roots to loosen it and give it more volume.
  3. Gather your hair towards the top of your head and tie it up with the chosen elastic.
  4. Pin the hair with a few pins on the bottom of the ponytail to hold it in place.
  5. In order for your curls to keep their definition throughout the day/evening, apply a conditioning cream to the ends of your hair.

This style is also one of the favorite of Rihanna

The side braid

Side braid

Don't be fooled by this hairstyle, which at first glance seems super technical. In reality, it's pretty simple and only takes a minute to do.

  1. We recommend using a waving spray that strengthens the curls and allows the braids to hold better.
  2. Make a parting slightly to the side.
  3. Take three strands of hair from one side of your head and start braiding, taking strands as you go towards the back of your head.
  4. When you have reached the back of your head, pin the last braided strands to secure them to your head.
  5. Add a little spray to further strengthen the hold.
  6. Hide the pins with the unbraided strands of hair.

The Maxi Bun

This effortless style is perfect for a summer party or festival. It's also a hairstyle that will perfectly highlight your neck. To make it even funkier, tie the bun with a scrunchie or a chic, elevated colored scarf.

  1. Start by brushing your hair to get a smooth texture.
  2. Pull your hair up into a high ponytail and secure it with an elastic band.
  3. Divide the ponytail in half, twist the two sections and wrap them around the base.
  4. Use bobby pins to secure the bun to your head and adjust the shape and size. Add the scrunchie and wrap it around the bun until it is secure.

The half-bun

Half buns work for all hair textures and lengths, yet we don't think enough about doing a half bun on our mane.

To achieve this look, follow these instructions:

  1. Find a nice scrunchie or hair band.
  2. Gently gather the hair into a half-tail, starting from the center of the top of the head to where the two ears are, all the way to the middle of the head. Make sure you don't have a parting on your hair.
  3. Twist the half ponytail and then roll it towards the base until you have your bun. Secure your half bun with your elastic band.
  4. For a more messy effect, leave a few strands of hair sticking out around your face.

African braids

Here is a hairstyle that is particularly suitable for those with curly hair.
Start by braiding your entire head of hair. This style uses cornrows, a traditional African hairstyle. This may require a visit to the salon if you are not an experienced braider.

These are types of braids done very close to the scalp.

The French Twist or the twisted bun

Despite appearances, there is no easier hairstyle than this one that could be translated as 'French twist'. An original hairstyle that has the secret of holding even better with unwashed hair. The rules remain the same regardless of the texture, whether it is curly and thick or straight and thin.

Instructions for the French Twist:

  1. Add volume to the entire head of hair. One method is to apply dry shampoo, especially to the roots so that they lift off the scalp.
  2. Then pull the strands back to form a ponytail at mid-height, stuffing it into a French twist.
  3. Secure it with three large bobby pins at the top, middle and base of the twist. Add more pins if three are not enough.
  4. Use your fingers to deconstruct the look a bit, ruffling flyaways and curls at the nape of the neck and around the hairline. Leave the hair as is or finish with a touch of hairspray.

Alex will summarize steps in this tutorial for a gorgeous French twist bun that can be make in only 60 seconds.

The curly hair plated back

Surprise! A sleek, sensual back doesn't require straight, slippery hair. We think this look is even better paired with curly hair and natural texture. We're inspired by the approach of gorgeous actress Shay Mitchell, as her hairstyle is the epitome of style when you're looking for a little glamour without the fuss. Plus, it couldn't be easier to achieve

  1. Let your hair dry, then grab a natural hair brush.
  2. Apply a styling gel to the strands and simply brush them through to smooth out the curly hair all the way through.

And that's it! Wouldn't that be the easiest and sexiest hairstyle in the world?

Fake Bangs

Long, curly hair gives you a unique opportunity to fake bangs.

  1. Pull your hair up into a high ponytail, securing it with a clear elastic.
  2. Pull most of the hair in the ponytail forward so that it falls over your forehead.
  3. Put a bandana around your head so that the knot is in front. This splits the hair in half, intensifying the pseudo-fringe effect. You can just as easily use a floral scarf square to vary the styles.
  4. Use your fingers to readjust the strands.
